CM Saini marks one year with ₹200 pension hike
On BJP govt’s first anniversary, CM Saini boosts social pensions by ₹200 in Haryana
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini marked one year of his government on Friday by announcing a ₹200 increase in social security pensions and releasing ₹2,697 crore in development funds for panchayats and urban local bodies. Speaking at a state-level event in Panchkula, Saini said the BJP government remains focused on the welfare of farmers, the poor, youth, and women while upholding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s motto of “sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas.”
The event, which also saw the release of a coffee table book highlighting one year of governance, was held with low-key celebrations across district headquarters. The chief minister explained that the grand rally earlier planned for October 17 in Sonepat had to be cancelled following the October 7 suicide of a senior IPS officer and the resulting political tensions.
Saini said the pension hike would take effect from November 1, 2025. After the revision, beneficiaries will receive ₹3,200 per month. Over 31 lakh people benefit from social security pensions in Haryana, including 19 lakh senior citizens, 8 lakh widows, and nearly 2 lakh persons with disabilities.
The announcement comes alongside the rollout of the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, which will provide ₹2,100 per month to women aged 23 years and above, starting November 1. Saini said these initiatives underline the government’s commitment to inclusive growth and social welfare.
At a press conference, he said, “We have delivered what we promised. Haryana now offers the highest social security pension in the country.” Saini added that his government’s focus in the first year was to fulfil promises that directly benefit people’s daily lives.
He also presented a “one-year report card” to the people of Haryana, calling it a historic milestone as the BJP returned to power for a third consecutive term—something that has never happened before in the state.
Progress on development projects and promises
Saini shared that out of the 217 promises made in the BJP’s election manifesto, known as Sankalpas, the government has already fulfilled 46 within one year. Work is underway on 158 others, and the target is to complete 90 Sankalpas by the end of the current financial year.
During the first year of his term, 2,716 projects worth ₹25,515 crore were either inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid. These include projects in infrastructure, education, housing, and rural development.

He also announced the allotment of 8,029 plots in 141 villages under the second phase of the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana. Under this housing scheme, 12,031 plots have already been allotted. In urban areas, 15,247 plots were distributed in the first phase of the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana, while 518 plots were allotted on Friday in Pinjore city as part of the second phase. Altogether, 15,765 plots have been distributed so far.
The chief minister said that in the past year, 77,199 families have received housing benefits under different government schemes. He added that for beneficiaries who received ownership certificates for 100-square-yard plots, tehsils would remain open even on Dhanteras to complete registration formalities without delay.
Saini also mentioned the Dayalu Scheme, under which ₹310 crore has been provided to 8,299 poor families with an annual income below ₹1.80 lakh. Under the Mukhyamantri Vivah Shagun Yojana, ₹71,000 is given to support the marriage of daughters from economically weaker families.
Focusing on farmers, Saini said that over the last 11 crop seasons, ₹1,54,000 crore has been directly transferred into the bank accounts of 12 lakh farmers under various government programs. He also mentioned the e-Kshatipurti Portal, which has registered 5.37 lakh farmers from 6,397 villages, covering 31 lakh acres of land. Verification of land records is ongoing, and once completed, compensation will be disbursed promptly to eligible farmers.
He said, “The government stands firmly with farmers. Every step we take is aimed at making agriculture profitable and ensuring that farmers get the benefits they deserve.”
Response to police suicide cases and future goals
When asked about the recent suicides of two Haryana Police officials—both of whom mentioned caste discrimination and corruption in their notes—Saini called the incidents “unfortunate” and assured that justice would be done. He clarified that one case is being handled by the Chandigarh Police and the other by the Haryana Police.
“The state government will act according to the wishes of the affected families. We are committed to ensuring justice and transparency,” he said, expressing confidence that the investigations would reveal the truth.
In conclusion, Saini said that the government’s achievements during the first year are a reflection of hard work, accountability, and the trust placed in them by the people. He assured citizens that the remaining promises will be completed in a time-bound manner and that development projects will continue at full pace.
“Our government belongs to every section of society. We are determined to make Haryana a model state in terms of welfare, transparency, and economic growth,” Saini said.
The chief minister’s announcement of the pension hike and other welfare measures is seen as a move to strengthen public confidence in the government as it begins its second year in office. With major initiatives focused on social security, women’s empowerment, and rural housing, Saini’s government aims to deepen its connection with the people while continuing Haryana’s path of steady growth and inclusive development.
